Laura Astorga-Monestel is a visual artist, born and living in Costa Rica. She has developed her career primarily  as a drawing artist, but her creative practice includes textiles, ensembles, paint, and writing, among other experimentations.

Her interests in any medium are always social and political: criticizing power in the hands of the least adequate individuals, habitat destruction, injustice, and corruption, with a unique and meticulous style, using monstrosities, hybridizations of human-animals, exalting the beauty of nature, and the real power of protecting our own and only home.
